MS Dhoni is set to feature once again for the Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. The legendary wicketkeeper-batter seems to be in good touch ahead of the opening clash against the Mumbai Indians.

A video shared on X showcased the former Indian captain having a go in the nets, and he clobbered a short delivery for a maximum, making it look effortless. And it could be a sign of what’s to come in the games coming up soon.

Dhoni’s powerhitting as been one to watch over the years, and with his age, he has taken a more reduced role with the bat with the introduction of the impact player rule in the IPL. He now opts to come in late in the innings, facing the last few deliveries to go after the bowler in the final stretch of the innings.

His captaincy has also been one of the highlights in his long and illustrious career, but he has handed the reigns to the star opening batter, Ruturaj Gaikwad, during the start of the previous season.

CSK will begin their campaign against rivals MI at home on March 23 (Sunday) where the fans at the Chepauk Stadium will be roaring in support of their icon and the team to put in a good performance to start their campaign on a positive.

The five-time winners will be looking to get back in the title picture after Gaikwad’s first season as captain saw them narrowly miss out on a playoff spot.

With new additions like Noor Ahmad, Anshul Kamboj, Nathan Ellis, and more, coupled with a few returning players like Ravichandran Ashwin and Sam Curran, the franchise looks set to take on the new campaign with a fresh start.

There have always been speculations regarding Dhoni’s retirement, but the Indian legend continues to defy the odds to ensure that he can continue performing at the top level even at 43 years old and has yet to confirm if 2025 will be his last in the IPL.
