Rahul Gandhi Cuts Short His US Visit, To Attend Congress’ CWC Meeting In Wake Of Pahalgam Terror Attack

The Congress party has called an emergency meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), its highest decision-making body on Thursday, in light of the dastardly terror attack.

Pahalgam Terror Attack: Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi has cut short his visit to the United States (US) and would arrive in New Delhi on Thursday to attend the Congress Working Committee (CWC) in wake of the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam which claimed at least 26 lives.

“Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Shri Rahul Gandhi has cut short his US visit and will be attending in person the CWC meeting in New Delhi tomorrow at 10:30 AM,” senior party leader Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.

Gandhi arrived in the US on Saturday.

The Congress party has called an emergency meeting of the Congress Working Committee (CWC), its highest decision-making body on Thursday, in light of the dastardly terror attack.

“An emergency meeting of the Congress Working Committee will be held tomorrow, Thursday, 24th April 2025 at 11:00 AM at 24, Akbar Road, in the wake of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam,” Venugopal said in a post on X.

Venugopal also reached Srinagar earlier this morning, to pay homage to the lost lives in the horrific terror attacks. While paying tributes to the departed souls, he said, “We must stand united, not only in mourning but also in our unflinching resolve against violence, against terror.”

Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had spoken with Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Congress’ J&K unit president Tariq Karra about the horrific Pahalgam terror attack to get an update on the situation.

He had asserted the families of victims deserve justice and our fullest support.

In one of the biggest attacks in Jammu and Kashmir, Lashkar-linked terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists in Pahalgam on Tuesday, killing at least 26 people, including foreign tourists, and injuring many others. The Resistance Front (TRF), a Lashkar offshoot, took responsibility for the attack.

Terrorists targeted a group of people, including women and elderly individuals, in the brazen attack after noon. Eyewitnesses told security forces that two to three men rushed in dressed in military fatigues, firing indiscriminately at tourists while they were enjoying the Baisaran Meadows of Pahalgam on horseback.
