Spain and Portugal were hit by a major power outage on Monday, knocking out subway networks, phone lines, traffic lights and ATM machines across the Iberian Peninsula as the Portuguese Cabinet convened an emergency meeting and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez visited the corporation which operates Spain’s national electricity grid. No cause was given for the blackout.Â
