Dutch women, 23 and 24, sexually assaulted after night out in Milan

Two Dutch women, ages 23 and 24, were sexually assaulted in Milan after a night out near Piazza del Duomo, AD reports. Italian police are searching for a 31-year-old man with prior convictions for assault and theft, according to Italian media reports.

The incident occurred late Friday night when the two tourists met two men while out in the city center. As the women were walking back from Piazza del Duomo to their hotel, one of the men offered to accompany them. He then led them into a dark street, where he assaulted them.

The women escaped after one of them struck the attacker, allowing both to get away. They later went to a police station to file a report and were medically examined.

Investigators said the women provided a detailed description of the attacker, including the name of his Instagram account.

Police are actively searching for the 31-year-old suspect, who has previous convictions for assault and theft. The public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation under Italy’s Codice Rosso framework, which strengthens procedures and penalties in cases involving sexual violence.
