Sebastian Sawe was caught up in an awkward moment as he spoke to the BBC after smashing the world record. After becoming the first person to run a marathon in under two hours at today’s London Marathon, Sawe spoke to news outlets including the BBC to share his happiness.
But in the midst of a cheerful interview celebrating the record, Sawe was seemingly left speechless after being asked what his first meal after the marathon would be – and whether he would celebrate the record with fish and chips at the pub. The incredible sportsman laughed without giving an answer, only saying aftrer a few moments of silence: “Thank you, thank you”.
During today’s marathon, 76 people are attempting 73 different Guinness World Records titles – including Mark Goulder, who will attempt the fastest marathon blindfolded and tethered by a male, with a target time of 3:20:00. Sawe ended his race at 1:59:30.
