Damage assessments and debris removal are underway after parts of Stone County were impacted by a tornado that touched down Monday evening. Here’s what we know.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Parts of Stone County, Arkansas sustained significant damage after a tornado touched down in the area on Monday evening.
Officials with the Stone County Sheriff’s Office stated that around 10:25 p.m., a powerful storm and tornado swept through portions of the county, causing major property damage.
At this time, there have been multiple reports of damaged homes and vehicles, downed power lines, and fallen trees blocking roadways. Authorities have confirmed that no injuries or deaths have been reported.
Damage assessments and debris removal are currently underway by local fire departments, law enforcement, OEM, and the county judge. Meanwhile, Entergy is working to repair downed lines.
Most of the damage so far has been reported in the Dodd Mountain, Luber, Pleasant Grove, and Hanover areas. The county judge also confirmed some damage on Hwy. 5 south of Mountain View.
Drivers should be cautious when driving in and around the areas impacted, and officials advised against entering any badly damaged buildings and structures.
