‘Intense, incredible show:’ Altamonte Springs prepares for 200,000 at Red Hot & Boom

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – Preparations are happening at Cranes Roost Park as Altamonte Springs is set to host the 29th annual Red Hot & Boom Independence Day celebration.

“We’re going to shoot about 10 fireworks per second for 25 straight minutes,” City Manager Frank Martz said. “It’s going to be an intense, incredible show.”

Admission is free for the festival, which includes musical performances by country singer-songwriter Chris Lane, along with Wish Radio and Blue Stone Circle.

With more than 200,000 people expected at the event, city leaders are urging attendees to plan for crowds and traffic in the area.

“Regardless of how you get to the event, be patient. That is the most important thing,” Martz said. “Parking is going to fill up here very, very quickly. With 200,000 people, the majority of the people who are going to get here will park someplace else and walk.”

The city also said safety is the top priority, with hundreds of officers among the crowd, medical tents, and numbers fixed to light poles that help direct first responders where they need to be in the case of an emergency.

“We will have a lot of partners here with us from multi-agencies to help us, coming from even outside of the county to help us with this event,” Public Information Officer Deana DiPaola said.
