The Arizona Department of Transportation recently announced that the agency’s new identification cards have two hidden designs.
PHOENIX — Arizona’s new travel IDs that will soon be required to board airplanes have a secret feature that can be revealed with the help of a blacklight.
The Arizona Department of Transportation recently announced the agency’s new identification cards have two separate designs that pay tribute to the Grand Canyon State.
One side features a secret design of a scorpion under a starry night sky and the other side features a howling coyote. ADOT said shining a blacklight under the card will reveal the designs.
Starting May 7, Arizona residents wishing to board a domestic flight will need to show either a U.S. passport, other federally approved identification or the new Arizona Travel ID.
The change in ID requirements is meant to comply with the Real ID Act of 2005, a federal law enacted in response to the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
To obtain Arizona’s new ID, residents must provide a birth certificate or passport, a Social Security number and two documents showing their Arizona residency.
More information on the ID can be found here.
