British Airways plane sparks ‘unprecedented’ chaos as 9 jets unable to land | UK | News

British Airways flight BA2673 from Palma de Mallorca to London Gatwick was met on the runway by emergency response teams after landing shortly after midnight.

The reason behind the emergency is yet to be confirmed.

However, the BA incident led to the temporary closure of the runway at Gatwick Airport, which has caused significant disruption across London skies in the early hours of Wednesday morning (July 15).

With a runway out of order, a number of Gatwick-bound flights  entered holding patterns as they waited for the all-clear to land.

Delays have continued and fuel supplies have become critical. Some flights have squawked the 7700 emergency signal, while others diverted to alternative airports.
