Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dy. SP) Kanakalakshmi from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) was interrogated by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) of Bengaluru police on Monday.
She appraised herself for questioning, police sources revealed that investigators also collected relevant documents during the session. Kanakalakshmi has been summoned again to appear on Wednesday for further investigation, according to sources.
The case stems from a First Information Report (FIR) filed by the Banashankari police last week, naming the Dy. SP is a suspect. The FIR was registered after the death of Jeeva S., a 35-year-old businesswoman who died by suicide after alleging harassment from CID officials last month.
Jeeva, who owned a wood supply shop in Peenya, left behind an 11-page note detailing the alleged harassment she faced during a CID inquiry. In the letter, she accused Kanakalakshmi of demanding a bribe of ₹25 lakh, rejecting her documents, stripping her during questioning, accusing her of carrying cyanide, and subjecting her to public humiliation.
The police has registered an FIR against the Deputy Superintendent of Police, charging her under the Prevention of Corruption Act and with abetment to suicide.
