The Coalition of the Willing, made up of Western countries supporting Ukraine, is due to meet in Paris on Monday for consultations on missile defence and possible joint military exercises.
The talks will be led by France and the UK and the German government has confirmed that Chancellor Friedrich Merz will attend.
Other topics include security guarantees for Ukraine and further support for the country, which has been warding off a Russian invasion for more than four years.
The meeting comes at the heels of last week’s NATO summit, where allies pledged billions in military aid for Ukraine.
The Coalition of the Willing is led by the UK and France, comprising over 35 countries working to end the conflict.
At the start of the year, they agreed to provide Ukraine with a legally binding assurance that it would not be left to fend for itself in the event of a renewed Russian attack.
The coalition also set out the framework for a multinational force intended to serve as a deterrent and to support the Ukrainian armed forces in peacetime – for example, by training young soldiers or securing airspace and maritime areas.
Following Monday’s consultations, soldiers from countries participating in the Coalition of the Willing will take part in a military parade on Tuesday to mark France’s Bastille Day.
