Conway police investigating shooting at UCA

CONWAY, Ark. — The Conway Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred at the University of Central Arkansas (UCA) early Saturday morning. 

Officials said the shooting occurred at a parking lot near Donaghey Avenue and Bruce Street at approximately 1:08 a.m.

According to a statement made by UCA, a student who was also a bystander sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was sent to a local hospital for treatment. As of 5 a.m., they were released from the hospital in stable condition.

Police have a suspect in custody in connection with the incident. 

UCA released a statement regarding the incident and said, “We work daily to provide a safe and accessible campus for our students, faculty, staff, and constituents. It takes all of us working together to make this happen.”
