PHOENIX — A driver died after crashing into a tree in west Phoenix, according to authorities.

The Phoenix Police Department said the crash happened at around 1:45 a.m. Sunday near 59th Avenue and Indian School Road.
Police identified the driver as 20-year-old Jesus Dominguez-Romo.
Police said the Phoenix Fire Department arrived to crash first and confirmed the driver had died.
Police said speed is believed to be a factor in the crash. Investigators believe Dominguez-Romo was driving west on Indian School Road when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a tree.
The roadway in the area is shut down as police investigate the incident.
