I-10 EB near Tonopah partially closed after 6 killed in crash

DPS said several vehicles were involved in the crash and at least three people have died.

TONOPAH, Ariz. — Six people have died in a crash involving several vehicles on Interstate 10 in the Tonopah area, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety. 

DPS said in a news release that troopers were called to milepost 89 on I-10, west of Tonopah, at about 1 p.m. on Saturday due to the crash, which involved “multiple tractor-trailers and passenger vehicles,” and caused some of those vehicles to catch fire.

DPS said six people have now died as a result of this crash and that a total of 13 people were taken to hospitals after being injured. 

The eastbound lanes of I-10 are still closed and DPS said they do not yet know when the will reopen. The westbound lanes were closed after the crash, but have since reopened.
