When it comes to PC building, first-timers face a minefield of component compatibility, cable management, and in more recent years, rampant supply chain issues.
Presently, we’re in the midst of a RAM and CPU crisis, but before that, issues arose during the 2020-23 chip shortage. Navigating these on top of complex and jargon-laden product names and listings, and it’s an increasingly unwelcome environment for a newcomer.
In the latest season of AI Planned It (which you can watch in full below or on TechRadar’s YouTube channel), I asked ChatGPT and Gemini to go head-to-head with our very own in-house computing expert Matt Hanson in a battle to build the best PC for my needs, which you can read about in this companion article.
Below, I’ve shared both of Gemini and ChatGPT’s top recommendations; let me know in the comments down below what you make of its suggestions, and watch the full episode to see which PC won!

Ultimately, ChatGPT’s build took the lead for us, though by a small margin and based on my specific briefing details; Gemini’s build below may actually come out on top for many PC builders.
