The stage for the Champions Trophy 2025 final has been set as India prepares to face New Zealand in the ICC event’s ultimate game.
A spotless group-stage run from the Men in Blue ensured their place in the semi-final against Australia. The knockout clash proved a high-octane affair as the Steve Smith-led side batted first and put up a 264-run total.
Smith led from the front and added 73 runs, scoring four boundaries and one six. Alex Carey supported his skipper with a 61-run knock. In the second innings, Virat Kohli smashed 84 runs to help the 2013 winners sail over the finish line with ease.
India completed the chase with four wickets and 11 balls to spare. They will be looking to produce a similar display of cricket on Sunday against the Black Caps.
The highly-awaited Champions Trophy final will be played at the Dubai International Stadium on March 9. The Kiwis finished their group stage with two wins and one loss.
Their only defeat came at the hands of India last week. New Zealand beat South Africa in the tournament’s second semi-final by 50 runs. The Mitchell Santner-led side now has the opportunity to win the ICC event for the second time in their history.
Dubai Weather Forecast:
The skies during the Champions Trophy 2025 final in Dubai will be generally clear. There’s a mere one percent chance of rainfall on March 9. The temperatures will hover around 31 degrees Celsius during the day and 23 degrees Celsius at night. The humidity levels should not exceed 55 percent, whereas the wind speeds will range between 15 km/h to 30 km/h.
Dubai International Stadium Pitch Report:
According to reports, the pitch used for the India-Pakistan group-stage clash will be reused in this final. It’s being said that the authorities have given it enough rest in the meantime.
Still, the Dubai International Stadium’s pitch has been on the sluggish side when compared to the high-scoring pitches in Pakistan. The ground has been a playing field for spinners who have taken advantage of the turn to surprise batters regularly throughout the tournament.
With temperatures rising rapidly in Dubai, spin bowling will likely become even more important to the teams’ tactical approach for the final. India have fielded high-quality spinners throughout the group stage and the semi-finals. New Zealand will be looking to adopt a similar approach on Sunday.
