Italian court rejects outsourced migrant detentions in Albania in blow to Meloni

A court in Italy on Friday ruled against the detention of the first migrants sent to Albania, foiling the right-wing government’s plan to outsource the processing of asylum seekers to the non-EU country. PM Meloni’s nationalist Brothers of Italy party slammed the ruling and Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi said the administration would appeal the court’s decision.
