PHOENIX — The Boot of Cortez gold nugget, the largest, natural gold nugget left in the Western Hemisphere, is set to be auctioned off in Glendale.
The auction will be at EJ’s Auction & Appraisal near 59th Avenue and Bell Road on Friday, June 12.
The gold nugget weighs about 26.2 pounds and measures more than 10 inches tall and 7 inches wide. According to EJ’s Auction & Appraisal, the nugget is 98% pure gold and in “pristine condition.”

The nugget was last auctioned off in January 2008 for over $1.3 million. EJ’s Auction & Appraisal believes that the nugget will sell for over $3 million in the June auction.
