Lebanon accuses Israel of rejecting ceasefire after Beirut strikes

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati on Friday said that Israel’s renewed bombing of Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, was proof that Israel is rejecting “all efforts being made to secure a ceasefire”. In northern Gaza, described as “apocalyptic” by UN chiefs, Hamas rejected a proposal for a short-term truce.
