Madison has fired a Fire and Rescue captain who was arrested in Huntsville last month and charged with animal cruelty.
Brandon Magill, who according to news reports was briefly held at the Madison County Jail in late February, had his employment with the city terminated, the city said in a brief statement Friday.
The move followed, “a comprehensive evaluation of his actions that resulted in animal cruelty charges,” the statement read.
A Madison Fire and Rescue social media post from 2024 said Magill was a 12-year veteran of the department. Magill was put on administrative leave shortly after the arrest.
Madison continues to cooperate with agencies investigating the case, the statement read, and no further comments would be made at this time.
