Mural Celebrating United States’ 250th Anniversary to Be Unveiled on May 22

A America 250 Mural Ribbon Cutting ceremony and reception will be held at The Gallery at James & Law on Main Street in downtown Clarksburg on Friday, May 22 at 1 p.m.

The 10 foot by 20 foot wide mural, “The Future Through the Glass of Time” by artist Amber Penland, depicts children in a “grandmother’s house setting” looking through a window towards symbols of the industries that built Harrison County, including coal, agriculture, health care and aerospace.

There are also nods to the Italian heritage and glass-making industry of the county.

The mural was funded by a grant for $5,000 from the West Virginia Tourism Mural Trail Program.

The Clarksburg History Museum applied for and received the funding.
