New name, new owner | Former Big Country Chateau leasing again in Little Rock

A Little Rock apartment complex that was once at the center of lawsuits and several safety concerns is now under new management and a new name.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — A Little Rock apartment complex that was once at the center of lawsuits and safety concerns is now under new management and a new name.

The property formerly known as Big Country Chateau is now being advertised as Hampshire at Casona, and units are listed for rent online.

The complex was shut down in 2023 following years of complaints, several code violations, and a lawsuit from the state.

However, it’s unclear what renovations have been completed before new tenants began moving in.

A statement from the City of Little Rock regarding the complex said the following:

“As you are aware, Mayor Scott and the City of Little Rock are focused on the housing crisis by prioritizing affordable solutions for Little Rock families. We appreciate the private developers who come alongside our efforts to create more affordable housing, and in this instance, improve the property and bring it into compliance with city codes to better serve our community.”

We reached out to the new management company to learn more about the improvements made, but we haven’t gotten a call back yet.
