A strange explosion took place at Bruidshuis Diana in downtown Boxmeer on Thursday morning. Locals and news outlets have referred to it as a “poop bomb” due to the overwhelming odor it produced.
The blast took place at the entrance of the bridal store on Steenstraat in Boxmeer at around 4:30 a.m. Reports from Omroep Brabant indicate that the device was packed with excrement. The explosion hurled the waste onto the shop’s façade and windows, spreading an overwhelming stench along the entire street.
Although no injuries were reported, the explosion caused a significant mess and an intense odor. None of the wedding dresses inside the store was damaged, the owner has said. Police quickly closed off the street to carry out an investigation.
The shop’s co-owner said he is completely in the dark about the reason for the attack, calling it “horrendous” and a “smear mess.” The store was forced to close for the rest of the day on Thursday and will reopen on Friday.
A man who lives opposite the bridal store told De Gelderlander that he also had to clean his driveway. At 4:30 this morning, the loud explosion jolted me upright in bed. I didn’t see anyone outside, and this morning I realized everything was coated in excrement.”
Police and firefighters responded swiftly. Given the extent of the contamination, the shop’s façade will require professional cleaning to eliminate the strong odor.
Police have said that the suspect is clearly visible on CCTV footage. Omroep Brabant, which reportedly obtained the security footage, stated that the suspect was wearing all dark clothing.
