Putin agrees to ‘direct’ talks with Ukraine but Zelensky calls for ceasefire first

Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed Sunday to hold “direct” talks with Ukraine on May 15 after European leaders called for an “unconditional” ceasefire on a visit to Kyiv. President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine was “ready” for direct talks but wants Moscow to first commit to a 30-day ceasefire starting Monday.
