Recent Accident on Route 50 Leaves Woman Dead as Man Testing Positive for Drugs Charged and Jailed

According to WDTV, a man has been arrested after police say he caused a fatal accident in Doddridge County in March while high.

Louis Oswalt, 46, caused the accident that occurred on March 18th at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 18 while driving under the influence of drugs, which took the life of Angie Campbell, according to West Virginia State Police.

Based on witness statements, police determined that Oswalt, who was driving a white Jeep Compass, failed to stop at the red light and hit Campbell’s silver Subaru Legacy. Campbell was pronounced dead on scene, court documents say.

Oswalt was transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital, and during a search of his vehicle, police found Alprazolam (commonly referred to as Xanax), Gabapentin and marijuana, court documents say. While at the hospital, Oswalt tested positive for benzodiazepines, buprenorphine and cannabinoids.

Oswalt is charged with DUI causing death and is currently in the North Central Regional Jail with bond set at $100,000.
