Scottsdale police investigating shooting at hospital

The shooting happened in the ER at HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center. Police say this is an “isolated incident.”

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Officers are investigating a shooting that injured one person at the HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center, according to the Scottsdale Police Department. 

In a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), Scottsdale police said that the shooting happened in the hospital’s emergency room at about 1 p.m. on Sunday. One person was shot, and that person is expected to survive.

The department added that a suspect has been taken into custody and that this was an isolated incident, so there is no threat to the general public or anyone who may go to the hospital on Sunday. SPD later added that the hospital grounds are safe and that the hospital is accepting patients. 

No one involved in the shooting has been identified and police are still investigating what led up to the shooting.  

The HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center is located on Shea Boulevard, just east of the Loop 101 freeway. 

This is a developing story and more details will be added when they are made available.
