Second issue of il Newyorkese presented at the Italian Cultural Institute in New York

The presentation of the second issue of Il Newyorkese, the leading newspaper for Italians in New York, took place on Monday, June 10th at 6 pm, at the Italian Cultural Institute of New York. The issue focuses on the culture of dialogue as a foundational element of the spirit of “community” in its various forms. Dialogue serves as a means to create bridges between different cultures, peoples, religions, and sensitivities across all fields of social life.

This issue features, as highlighted on the cover, a historic dialogue through an exclusive interview with Pope Francis and Evangelical Pastor Giovanni Traettino, conducted by writer and journalist Alessandro Iovino.

The event was held in the grand hall of the prestigious Italian Cultural Institute on Park Avenue. It was introduced by Deputy Director Massimo Sarti, followed by institutional greetings from the Deputy Consul of New York, Marta Mammana. The discussion was moderated by Davide Ippolito, founder of Il Newyorkese, with contributions from journalist Alessandro Iovino, Head of the School at Scuola d’Italia Michael Cascianelli, journalist Francesca Di Matteo, and Massimo Allegri from the airline Ita Airways.

Davide Ippolito, founder of Il Newyorkese, stated, “I am pleased that Il Newyorkese has become a reference point for the Italian community in New York in just a few months. Our goal is to keep improving and become a fully participatory entity. That’s why we announced the launch of a television channel and the expansion of our editorial network.

Alessandro Iovino, a guest from Italy, commented, “This historic interview aims to send a message of peace in times of war. With the Pope and the pastor, we wanted to show that building bridges is better than erecting walls. I am grateful that Il Newyorkese dedicated the cover of this issue to this historic encounter: it confirms the vocation of this city, which has always believed in hospitality and dialogue.”
