According to WBOY, the fatality at Timberline Mountain in Tucker County this week happened after an out-of-state guest hit a tree, according to investigators.
The Tucker County Sheriff’s Department told 12 News Friday that the guest was skiing and hit a tree; life-saving medical attention was given, but the guest was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies said that the person who died was an older man from out-of-state, but no other identifying information has been released.
There is a chance that a medical issue caused the ski accident, but investigators are awaiting a possible autopsy to confirm the cause of death.
