Solar panel fire put out at Stratford home on Clover Street: Officials

STRATFORD — Firefighters extinguished a blaze that burned through multiple rooftop solar panels at a house on Clover Street Tuesday, officials said.

Emergency crews responded just before 3 p.m. to the residential street for a report of a house on fire, according to Stratford Fire Chief Jermaine B. Atkinson.

Atkinson said crews arrived to find rooftop solar panels on fire at a two-story home with extension to the roof material.

“Fire crews rapidly extinguished the fire and disconnected the solar power to the home,” Atkinson said.

Atkinson said crews also searched the home and confirmed that everyone had escaped the burning building before they arrived on scene. He said no injuries were reported.

Photos shared by the department show the fire damaged at least a half-dozen solar panels. Atkinson said the Stratford Fire Marshal’s office is investigating the cause of the fire.
