Troy basketball will face Kentucky in NCAA tournament in Milwaukee on Friday

Troy is a No. 14 seed for the 2025 NCAA men’s basketball tournament, and will face No. 3 Kentucky in a first-round game in Milwaukee on Friday.

The Trojans (23-10) won the 2025 Sun Belt Conference tournament to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament after sharing the league’s regular-season title. Troy is in “March Madness” for the third time in program history, having also played in the tournament in 2003 and 2017.

Kentucky (22-11) has eight national championships, second in NCAA history behind only UCLA’s 10. The Wildcats finished sixth in the SEC standings during the regular season, but are ranked No. 15 nationally.

The other first-round game in Troy’s bracket pits No. 6 Illinois vs. the winner of a “first four” game between Texas and Xavier. The second-round game will take place Sunday.

Troy is 0-2 all-time in the NCAA tournament since moving to Division I in 1993. The Trojans lost 87-65 to Duke in 2017 and 71-59 to Xavier in 2003.
