Covington Police said the downed aircraft was found in the woods just north of the runway a little after 11 p.m. on Saturday night.
COVINGTON, Ga. — Two people died Saturday night in a small plane crash in Covington, police reported.
According to the Covington Police Department, a single-engine aircraft took off around 11 p.m. from Covington Municipal Airport and then lost communication.
Officers responded on scene after a call came in from the FAA and the downed aircraft was located north of the runway.
“Two individuals were located with the aircraft and were pronounced deceased at the scene,” Covington Police said. “FAA and NTSB are investigating the crash.”
No identifying information about the individuals has been released.
