United Football League Week 4 roundup: Final unbeaten team falls

The United Football League no longer has any undefeated teams. The DC Defenders made it through the first three weeks of the season without a loss. But on Sunday, the Defenders fell 24-18 to the San Antonio Brahmas, who entered the game at 0-3.

In the UFL’s other Week 4 games:

Quarterback Bryce Perkins threw two touchdown passes in the fourth quarter as the Michigan Panthers pulled away to a 27-9 victory over the Memphis Showboats on Friday night. Linebacker Frank Ginda recorded 13 tackles for the Michigan defense, which limited the Showboats to 150 yards.
Cornerback Ajene Harris returned an interception 100 yards for a touchdown with 15 seconds to play to secure the Arlington Renegades’ 30-15 victory over the St. Louis Battlehawks on Saturday. Arlington’s first touchdown came on defensive end Chris Odom’s 39-yard fumble return for a touchdown, when St. Louis lost starting QB Manny Wilkins on its opening possession.
Safety JoJo Tillery’s interception with 22 seconds to play sealed the Birmingham Stallions’ 23-16 victory over the Houston Roughnecks on Saturday night.

DC quarterback Jordan Ta’amu connected with wide receiver Braylon Sanders for a 42-yard gain to advance the Defenders to the Brahmas 6-yard line with 1:58 to play. But the San Antonio defense made a goal-line stand to secure the Brahmas’ first victory over the season. San Antonio also stopped DC at the Brahmas 38 earlier in the fourth quarter.

DC lost despite getting 300 passing yards and 74 rushing yards from Ta’amu.

San Antonio quarterback Kellen Mond’s 9-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Greg Ward broke an 18-18 tie with 5:51 left in the third quarter.
