Wales theme park horror as child falls from ride ‘when car detached in mid air’ | UK | News

A young girl has been seriously injured after the carriage of a rollercoaster ride detached from the tracks at Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza theme park in North Wales.

The child fell “several meters from the air” following the incident on Saturday morning. As reported by Wales Online, an investigation has been launched after the ride malfunctioned and caused the child to fall.

Local journalist Aaran Lennox said: “A children’s ‘ride on car’ detached from the ride mid operation causing the car to fall several meters from the air whilst the child remained inside.”

Chris Williams, Director of the Llandudno Community Events CIC, added: “At the extravaganza on Saturday morning there was an incident involving a ride on Mostyn Street at approximately 10:15 AM, still being investigated by the operator.

“The health and safety executive visited the extravaganza following the incident and permitted the operator of the ride to continue operating, however out of respect for the family involved the ride will not operate for the remainder of the event.”

The Llandudno Victorian Extravaganza is an annual event held during the May Day Bank Holiday weekend. It was established in 1986 and aims to boost tourism in the area.

The event has recently evolved into a celebration of Victorian culture. It attracts visitors from across the UK during the typically quiet period between Easter and the end of May.
